Raven – Your Next Adventure Buddy Has Four Paws

Raven is an approximately 1-year-old Australian Kelpie with a wonderful combination of intelligence, athleticism, affection, and playful energy. This beautiful girl was rescued from a local shelter, and it didn’t take long for her foster family to fall completely in love with her. Now Raven is ready to find the forever family who will love her just as much.

Raven is the perfect blend of playful and gentle. She loves to run, play, and explore, but she also has a quiet, affectionate side that makes her incredibly easy to enjoy. She loves big dogs, little dogs, adults, and kids and is always happy to make a new friend.

This smart girl is fully potty trained and crate trained, and she’s happiest when she can be part of the family. Raven would do best in a home where someone is around more often than not, as she really enjoys having her people nearby.

When it comes to adventures, Raven is ready to go! She loves car rides, playing ball, running through the woods, hiking, and simply spending time with her humans. Her athletic nature and herding-breed intelligence make her an excellent companion for an active family who wants a dog that can keep up with them.

But Raven isn’t all go, go, go. Once the adventure is over, she’s perfectly happy to settle down and enjoy some quality time with her favorite people. She is affectionate, loyal, funny, and incredibly eager to be part of a family.

Raven is spayed, vaccinated, house-trained, and ready for her next chapter. If you’re looking for a smart, loving, athletic companion who would happily join you on everything from a weekend hike to a car ride around town, Raven might just be your girl!

Something to Consider:

Puppies don't train themselves

If you aren’t willing to train a puppy every single day, don’t get a puppy! It isn’t a one-shot deal. You have to be dedicated. And if you aren’t making progress – find someone who can help. Enroll in a puppy training class or hire a trainer. Most cities across the nation have some sort of availability for this kind of help and at different cost levels that would fit your budget.

Puppies are going to poop a lot and pee even more; chew on everything; bite everyone; scratch people and furniture; steal things; destroy something at some point; pull on the leash; not move at all on the leash; bark; cry; beg for attention; and the list goes on. You’re going to have to walk them, bathe them, pick up everything below waist height, buy new shoes, and most importantly: TRAIN THE PUPPY NOT TO DO THESE THINGS! Ultimately, it is your responsibility to teach your puppy that this behavior is unacceptable.

This is going to happen every time and incredibly fast. Please, the next time you have the thought, “I want a puppy!” replace the word “PUPPY” with “DOG.”

If your excitement goes down, even the slightest amount, don’t get a puppy.

The average lifespan for a dog is 12 years. The wondrous smell of puppy breath only last a few months. This means you have waaay more time owning a dog than a puppy. We frequently have puppies returned to us for a variety of reasons. Often this results in an extremely adoptable 8 week old puppy being returned a few months later as an 8 month old train-wreck.

And… if you just ‘honest to God’ love puppies and wish they never turned into dogs, we have a great option for you – you can foster puppies! You get to help a life in need, get all the fun that comes along with puppies, and never have to have a dog! WIN, WIN!!! Please visit our fostering page for more information.
