Honey is a beautiful young female Belgian Shepherd (Malinois) mix with a gentle personality and a wonderfully curious spirit. Found wandering as a stray on a disc golf course alongside her friend Maple, Honey hasn’t let her rough start dim her affectionate nature for a moment. Today, this sweet puppy is already house-trained, fully vetted, and eager to trade life as a stray for a permanent spot right by your side. Honey is a medium-sized girl, weighing between 26–60 lbs, and at less than a year old, she is at the perfect age to bond deeply with her forever family. She is a naturally friendly, funny, and curious girl who absolutely loves the great outdoors. Whether she is going for walks, exploring new trails, or chasing a toy in the yard, Honey brings an enthusiastic joy to every outdoor adventure. This lovely girl is a true “people dog” who loves giving kisses and soaking up every ounce of attention she can get. She is exceptionally affectionate, dog-friendly, and wonderful with kids, making her a fantastic fit for an active and loving household. While she possesses the intelligence and bright mind of the Malinois breed, Honey stands out for her sweet, easygoing demeanor and her desire to always stay close to her humans. Honey is the perfect match for someone looking for a loyal, outdoorsy, and deeply affectionate best friend to share life’s adventures with. She is a resilient, loving soul who is ready to bring endless joy, laughter, and companionship to the lucky family who adopts her. Something to Consider:
Puppies don't train themselves
If you aren’t willing to train a puppy every single day, don’t get a puppy! It isn’t a one-shot deal. You have to be dedicated. And if you aren’t making progress – find someone who can help. Enroll in a puppy training class or hire a trainer. Most cities across the nation have some sort of availability for this kind of help and at different cost levels that would fit your budget.
Puppies are going to poop a lot and pee even more; chew on everything; bite everyone; scratch people and furniture; steal things; destroy something at some point; pull on the leash; not move at all on the leash; bark; cry; beg for attention; and the list goes on. You’re going to have to walk them, bathe them, pick up everything below waist height, buy new shoes, and most importantly: TRAIN THE PUPPY NOT TO DO THESE THINGS! Ultimately, it is your responsibility to teach your puppy that this behavior is unacceptable.
Puppies turn into dogs...
This is going to happen every time and incredibly fast. Please, the next time you have the thought, “I want a puppy!” replace the word “PUPPY” with “DOG.”
If your excitement goes down, even the slightest amount, don’t get a puppy.
The average lifespan for a dog is 12 years. The wondrous smell of puppy breath only last a few months. This means you have waaay more time owning a dog than a puppy. We frequently have puppies returned to us for a variety of reasons. Often this results in an extremely adoptable 8 week old puppy being returned a few months later as an 8 month old train-wreck.
And… if you just ‘honest to God’ love puppies and wish they never turned into dogs, we have a great option for you – you can foster puppies! You get to help a life in need, get all the fun that comes along with puppies, and never have to have a dog! WIN, WIN!!! Please visit our fostering page for more information.
