Meet Georgie – A Happy, Playful, and Sweet Shepherd Mix Ready for Her Forever Home!

Georgie (also known as Georgia) is a gorgeous young female German Shepherd Dog mix with an infectious, happy-go-lucky spirit and a heart full of love. Saved alongside her sister, Peppa, just hours before being taken to a shelter after being found as strays, Georgie was welcomed into foster care in the Austin area. Today, this resilient puppy is fully house-trained, up-to-date on all vaccinations, and completely ready to find a loving forever family of her own.

Georgie is tracking to be a large girl (61–100 lbs) at less than a year old, offering a wonderful blend of curious puppy energy and sweet “couch potato” relaxation. She is doing fantastic with her crate training and is mastering the ins and outs of home life with ease. Smart, eager to please, and naturally athletic, Georgie possesses all the bright intelligence of her Shepherd roots while keeping a gentle, easygoing disposition.

This friendly girl is an absolute social butterfly who loves people and has never met a stranger. She is great with kids and loves playing with other dogs, romping around with her favorite toys, and exploring the yard. Once playtime wraps up, Georgie turns into a world-class cuddle bug, happily settling in right beside her favorite humans for sweet snuggles and affection.

Georgie is the total package—a smart, sweet, and fun-loving puppy who will bring endless laughter, loyalty, and companionship as she grows up with your family.

If you’re searching for a playful, loving, and deeply loyal best friend to complete your home—Georgie is ready to meet you!

Apply to foster or adopt at WorkDogRescue.org today to learn more about Georgie and give this deserving girl the forever family she’s been waiting for!

Something to Consider:

Puppies don't train themselves

If you aren’t willing to train a puppy every single day, don’t get a puppy! It isn’t a one-shot deal. You have to be dedicated. And if you aren’t making progress – find someone who can help. Enroll in a puppy training class or hire a trainer. Most cities across the nation have some sort of availability for this kind of help and at different cost levels that would fit your budget.

Puppies are going to poop a lot and pee even more; chew on everything; bite everyone; scratch people and furniture; steal things; destroy something at some point; pull on the leash; not move at all on the leash; bark; cry; beg for attention; and the list goes on. You’re going to have to walk them, bathe them, pick up everything below waist height, buy new shoes, and most importantly: TRAIN THE PUPPY NOT TO DO THESE THINGS! Ultimately, it is your responsibility to teach your puppy that this behavior is unacceptable.

This is going to happen every time and incredibly fast. Please, the next time you have the thought, “I want a puppy!” replace the word “PUPPY” with “DOG.”

If your excitement goes down, even the slightest amount, don’t get a puppy.

The average lifespan for a dog is 12 years. The wondrous smell of puppy breath only last a few months. This means you have waaay more time owning a dog than a puppy. We frequently have puppies returned to us for a variety of reasons. Often this results in an extremely adoptable 8 week old puppy being returned a few months later as an 8 month old train-wreck.

And… if you just ‘honest to God’ love puppies and wish they never turned into dogs, we have a great option for you – you can foster puppies! You get to help a life in need, get all the fun that comes along with puppies, and never have to have a dog! WIN, WIN!!! Please visit our fostering page for more information.
