Meet Genny – A Smart, Water-Loving, and Playful Shepherd Mix Ready for Her Forever Home!

Meet Genny! This sweet, stunning girl is approximately 10 months old, weighs a perfect 43 pounds, and has all the fun, goofy energy of a puppy. Fostered right here in the San Antonio area, Genny is a medium-sized Belgian Malinois and German Shepherd Dog mix who is already fully house-trained, vaccinated, and will be spayed before her adoption is finalized. She is completely ready to find an active family who will help her continue to learn, play, and grow.

Genny is an absolute dream for anyone who loves training! True to her working breed roots, she is fiercely intelligent, curious, and eager to please. Because she is exceptionally food-motivated, she picks up new skills light-years fast and will thrive in a home that provides consistent structure and guidance. One of Genny’s absolute favorite activities is splashing around in a small swimming pool, and she is always up for a game of fetch with balls, squeaky toys, tug ropes, or even cool branches she discovers in the yard!

This social, affectionate girl is a fantastic fit for a dynamic household. Genny is both dog-friendly and kid-friendly, loving nothing more than having canine buddies to romp around with. Her ideal home features a securely fenced yard where she can safely zoom around and burn off her puppy energy alongside a family that enjoys daily walks and outdoor adventures. Once the action wraps up, Genny happily transitions into a total sweetheart, soaking up belly rubs and settling in close to her humans.

Genny is the total package—a smart, athletic, and goofy adventure buddy who will keep you smiling every single day while rewarding your love with unwavering loyalty.

If you’re searching for an intelligent, sweet, and fun-loving best friend to join your family on every adventure—Genny is ready to meet you!

Something to Consider:

Puppies don't train themselves

If you aren’t willing to train a puppy every single day, don’t get a puppy! It isn’t a one-shot deal. You have to be dedicated. And if you aren’t making progress – find someone who can help. Enroll in a puppy training class or hire a trainer. Most cities across the nation have some sort of availability for this kind of help and at different cost levels that would fit your budget.

Puppies are going to poop a lot and pee even more; chew on everything; bite everyone; scratch people and furniture; steal things; destroy something at some point; pull on the leash; not move at all on the leash; bark; cry; beg for attention; and the list goes on. You’re going to have to walk them, bathe them, pick up everything below waist height, buy new shoes, and most importantly: TRAIN THE PUPPY NOT TO DO THESE THINGS! Ultimately, it is your responsibility to teach your puppy that this behavior is unacceptable.

This is going to happen every time and incredibly fast. Please, the next time you have the thought, “I want a puppy!” replace the word “PUPPY” with “DOG.”

If your excitement goes down, even the slightest amount, don’t get a puppy.

The average lifespan for a dog is 12 years. The wondrous smell of puppy breath only last a few months. This means you have waaay more time owning a dog than a puppy. We frequently have puppies returned to us for a variety of reasons. Often this results in an extremely adoptable 8 week old puppy being returned a few months later as an 8 month old train-wreck.

And… if you just ‘honest to God’ love puppies and wish they never turned into dogs, we have a great option for you – you can foster puppies! You get to help a life in need, get all the fun that comes along with puppies, and never have to have a dog! WIN, WIN!!! Please visit our fostering page for more information.
