Meet Dove – A Sweet, Water-Loving, and Human-Focused Malinois Mix Ready for Her Forever Home!

Dove is a beautiful young female Belgian Shepherd (Malinois) mix puppy with a gentle, loyal heart and a bright mind. As a proud member of the “Elite 8” litter, Dove got her second chance at life after her mom, Kiska, was rescued from a South Texas shelter while pregnant and flown to Central Texas. Raised with love in foster care, Dove is fully house-trained, crate-trained, up-to-date on vaccinations, and ready to find her permanent family!

Dove is a medium-sized girl (26–60 lbs) at 5 months, offering a fantastic head start on her basic manners. She is already mastering foundational skills like leash walking, sit, and stay! While many puppies are obsessed with toys, Dove stands out for her deep focus on human connection—she is far more interested in spending quality time with you than anything else. Oh, and if water is involved? Count her in! Dove absolutely loves water and will happily splash around every chance she gets.

This alert, brave, and affectionate girl is a total social superstar. Dove is fantastic with children, dog-friendly, and cat-friendly, making her a wonderfully well-rounded candidate for a variety of active households. True to her Malinois heritage, she is intelligent, curious, and eager to please, thriving best in a home committed to providing the structured guidance, ongoing training, and daily activities that keep a young Malinois happy.

Dove is the total package—a smart, water-loving, and intensely loyal best friend who will shower you with sweet puppy kisses and stay right by your side on every adventure.

If you’re searching for an intelligent, affectionate companion who loves people as much as she loves learning—Dove is ready to meet you!

Something to Consider:

Puppies don't train themselves

If you aren’t willing to train a puppy every single day, don’t get a puppy! It isn’t a one-shot deal. You have to be dedicated. And if you aren’t making progress – find someone who can help. Enroll in a puppy training class or hire a trainer. Most cities across the nation have some sort of availability for this kind of help and at different cost levels that would fit your budget.

Puppies are going to poop a lot and pee even more; chew on everything; bite everyone; scratch people and furniture; steal things; destroy something at some point; pull on the leash; not move at all on the leash; bark; cry; beg for attention; and the list goes on. You’re going to have to walk them, bathe them, pick up everything below waist height, buy new shoes, and most importantly: TRAIN THE PUPPY NOT TO DO THESE THINGS! Ultimately, it is your responsibility to teach your puppy that this behavior is unacceptable.

This is going to happen every time and incredibly fast. Please, the next time you have the thought, “I want a puppy!” replace the word “PUPPY” with “DOG.”

If your excitement goes down, even the slightest amount, don’t get a puppy.

The average lifespan for a dog is 12 years. The wondrous smell of puppy breath only last a few months. This means you have waaay more time owning a dog than a puppy. We frequently have puppies returned to us for a variety of reasons. Often this results in an extremely adoptable 8 week old puppy being returned a few months later as an 8 month old train-wreck.

And… if you just ‘honest to God’ love puppies and wish they never turned into dogs, we have a great option for you – you can foster puppies! You get to help a life in need, get all the fun that comes along with puppies, and never have to have a dog! WIN, WIN!!! Please visit our fostering page for more information.
